Sergei Grishankov is a Russian national. He graduated from the State Medical Academy in 1995. After completing the residency in surgical oncology he has been working as a surgeon in the Federal Surgical Research Center in Moscow in the department of abdominal surgery. His surgical expertise is mainly in the treatment of pancreatic, gastric, and esophageal cancer. In 2006 he successfully completed the Ph.D. research work on “Diagnostic and surgical treatment of cystic tumors of the pancreas”. Apart from clinical work, Sergei has a passion for innovative work on new medical technologies. Work in the clinical setting, allowed him to develop a sharp feeling for unmet technological issues which have a significant impact on the quality of the treatment. For the last few years, he has been working on an extremely challenging task of devising the new approach for microsurgical connection of small blood vessels and ducts. This invention may significantly improve the quality of microsurgical connection, reduce the physical burden on surgeons, and shorten the time of this complex procedure.

His interest mostly centered on new disruptive technologies in surgery. He believes that the eminent innovative expertise and business experience of the Bakken MDC might help to bring his new ideas to patients and physicians.

In his spare time, Sergei enjoys reading, traveling, and ice-skating.
