Doug Devens, PhD (2017-2018)

Doug received his PhD in chemical engineering from U.C. Berkeley, after getting his BS degree at M.I.T. After doing a year of post-doctoral research in France Doug worked in corporate research doing polymer processing modeling. He then went to work in medical devices, at large and small companies. He has worked in manufacturing, quality and most recently product development, managing departments that have launched nine devices over the last nine years, with project sales of over $100 million at maturity.

Doug has worked in the areas of interventional cardiology, urology and sterilization assurance. He is an inventor on twenty-five US patents across these fields and in polymer processing.

Doug is married with two daughters, one in college and the younger in high school. He and his family enjoy biking, gardening and especially canoeing in the Boundary Waters.
