Innovation Fellow Alumni
HANNAH BYGD, PhD (2016-2017)
Hannah recently completed her PhD in Materials Science and Engineering at Iowa State University, where her research was focused on understanding how various polymer material properties and surface chemistries alter cellular responses to implanted biomaterials. She became interested in biomedicine while earning her BA in Chemistry and Biology from Luther College, where she was captivated by Human Dissection and Anatomy and developed an endless admiration for the inner workings of the human body. It was her REU at The University of Southern Mississippi that set her on the educational path towards materials science. Now she is seeking to combine these interests in a career that constantly challenges her and provides unlimited room for growth.
In her free time, Hannah enjoys playing in volleyball and softball leagues, as well as hunting, fishing, and sitting around the bonfire with her family. She is also looking forward to taking in some live music and exploring the bike trails in the Twin Cities with her husband.
