Innovation Fellow Alumni
AMIT GOYAL, MD (2015-2016)
Dr. Amit Goyal is from Northern Virginia, just a short drive outside our nation's capital. He attended the University of Virginia for his undergraduate studies, earning a bachelor's degree in economics. He then went on to earn his medical doctorate at Georgetown University, after which he joined the Department of Neurosurgery here at the University of Minnesota for his postgraduate training.
Dr. Goyal has a keen research interest in brain tumors, deformities of the spine, and functional neurosurgery, such as movement disorders and epilepsy. His ambition to advance research and patient care in these fields led to his involvement, and eventual placement, as a Senior Innovation Fellow, with the Medical Devices Center.
In his free time, Dr. Goyal enjoys watching and playing a wide variety of sports, namely tennis and golf, as well as traveling. He is also an avid snowboarder. Whenever Dr. Goyal and his wife, Jaimie, are not planning their next trip, they enjoy being parents to their twin labrador huskies, Amina and Azul.
